Abstract

This experience report describes the organization and execution of the science fair “EXPOQUÍMICA – Chemistry of Everyday Life,” held at a public high school in Petrolina-PE, Brazil. The event involved high school students, Chemistry undergraduate students, teachers, and the local community, emphasizing active methodologies and project-based learning. The fair provided a meaningful practical experience, overcoming structural challenges such as lack of laboratories and resources through the use of accessible materials and student protagonism. The positive impact on the development of technical, communicative, and civic skills, as well as critical and reflective teacher training, is highlighted. The initiative reinforces the importance of innovative pedagogical practices in Chemistry teaching and the promotion of scientific citizenship
