Abstract

This paper presents the innovation teaching and learning initiative named "Career Management: a look into the future". It aims to contribute to career and competence development of future managers. This program develops activities in three areas: a) the fi rst focuses on administration college students in order to develop their career plans and skills; b) the second part focus on high school students with the objective to provide them to experience the university environment, to encourage them to pursue high education degree and contribute with professional choice; c) fi nally, administration college alumni, in order to follow their path into the labor market and allow building professional contacts for current students. The methodological approach is social constructivist and resorts to Dutra’s model (1996, 2002) on career planning. Therefore, we organized several events, such as lectures, workshops, round tables with managers and alumni from March 2012 to February 2013. During this time, the program reached 645 participants (college and public high school students, teachers and administrators from various organizations). Sixty-fi ve career plans were developed.
