Abstract

The agroecological fairs represent for family farmers the opportunity to market their products without the presence of middlemen and at a fairer price for consumers. The objective of this study was to describe and analyze the short marketing circuits from the social and historical context of three agroecological fairs located in the city of Recife - Pernambuco. The agroecological fairs of the Graças Quarter, Boa Viagem and Dois Irmãos were studied through the application of semistructured interview scripts directed to six family farmers. The results showed that agroecological fairs are the main commercialization channel used by farmers, since they take their highest income. However, we conclude that, despite the importance of these marketing channels, the lack of infrastructures at the fairs and the transportation of the products are the greatest difficulties faced by family farmers.
