Abstract

Universities in Brazil are based on a triad that is composed by university extension, teaching and researches. The first one had become the subject of study for several researches that try to understand its history and conceptualization. However, there is few researches about the contributions of university students. Thus, the present paper aims to understand the contributions of the university extension as an instrument of learning in the initial formation of teacher of the undergraduate course of Chemistry in a federal university. In order to do so, three groups of students were able to answer the questions proposed: students without any type f scholarship, scholarship holders and graduated, in order to trace the characteristics/difficults of these students during the course and to evaluate the skills developed by students who participated during their initial trainings. The results indicate that these activities contribute to formatiohn of the students, enabling them to develop skills and favorable competences to the teaching service.
