Organize-Action: an experience of partnership between education and primary health care service in the awareness of rational use of the drugs

Abstract

The pharmaceutical advice to elderly people is essential to guarantee the safe use of medicine. Thus, the objective of this extension work was to contribute to the rational use of medicine by the elderly who have been watched by a Unit of Primary Health Care in Juiz de Fora, MG. The activity has been executed not only by a multidisciplinary group of professionals and students. Initially, this group made weekly visits to people’s homes, in which it was identifi ed the diffi culty of adhesion to the medicinal therapies. At this part, the purpose of creating an organizer bag was released. The distribution of such a device has been accomplished at Unit, which has been remarkable due to an educational action called “Organize-Action”. At the moment, the users were explained how to keep, organize and dose the medicine in use, as well as about the risks to health come from self-medication.
