Abstract

The gender inequalities contribute to a sexual division of labor, in which the work with greater visibility and importance to society is the one developed by men. The aim of this work was to analyze the gender relations established before and after implementation of the community organic garden designed by women’s group from Vila Nova, municipality of Dormentes-PE. For that, a qualitative and quantitative research was carried out, whose methodological procedure adopted was the case study. Initially, the group of women participated in the systematization of experience, whose dynamic process occurred through workshops and participatory tools. Beside, were realized visits, meetings and interviews. Despite the accumulation of assignment, whose activities are not restricted to the domestic sphere, for extending to the backyard, to the farm, to care for the animals and more recently, for the organic garden and to the association, women gained confidence, information, power of voice and action, with influence in the community and the region.
