Abstract

Faced with the harmful effects of social vulnerability in poor communities, food production associated with social organization can be a mechanism for combating hunger through income generation. In the municipality of Juazeiro / BA, on the banks of the São Francisco river, an associative experience is identified by its orchards of organic vegetable production and because it is one of the first groups focused on overcoming poverty and combating hunger located in the northeastern semi-arid of Brazil. The objective of this work was to study the dilemmas of the social trajectory of the community garden of the United Kingdom, contributing to the reflection based on the social organization and the production of organic foods.
