Technology, family farmer and environment: dialogues with the rural extension in semiarid northeastern

Abstract

The paper presents results of experiences in research and extension in Northeast Semiarid area. The goal is to insert practical elements to dialogue about the interfaces between the use and deployment of adapted technologies to family farmers, the environment and society. The activities happened between 2011 and 2013, in Caetés - Pernambuco. It was found that simple technologies are less expensive and effective mechanisms to overcome problems, indicating a path strategy in terms of public policy that should be prioritized. The participation of students, researchers, technicians and family farmer, contributed to valuation of different knowledge, including farmer’s knowledge. Limitations were found.
