Abstract

In this paper we analyze the main difficulties / facilities and observations of family farmers in the experimentation process of Cuca Umbu of irrigation technology in Santo Antônio II community, located in the municipality of Afogados da Ingazeira, Pernambuco semiarid. It was adopted as research method action research so that farmers could evaluate and propose adjustments during the experimentation process of the irrigation system under study, which was integrated with Cisterna Calçadão and other social technologies aimed at the storage and management of rainwater for the production of vegetables in the Brazilian semi-arid region. The results of the research indicated that, although the farmers considered the Cuca de Umbu technology necessary for the semiarid reality, they found it difficult to understand the process of installation and operation.
